Handmade Water Fountain

Handmade Water Fountain
Mike Vizcaino's family has a tradition at Thanksgiving; they draw names to see to whom they will craft a gift for Christmas. He drew a young lady friend of the family. He figured a tabletop fountain would make a fairly simple project this year.

The washboard he created by adhering 1/4" half-round dowles to a clear acrylic board. He used TAP acrylic cement & hypo-applicator bottle. Though there were air pockets and bubbles between them, he found that it lent a cool artistic effect to the project. He bonded 3/8" clear vinyl tubing around the edges and connected them at the bottom to a hose tee that feeds to the 50-80gph tabletop fountain pump. He was surprised to find that the acrylic cement successfully bonded the vinyl tubing to the acrylic board as long as it was taped down over night. He used a razor blade to cut a slit along the hose along the top where the hose meets the board, so the water flows out and down along the board and does not spray straight out. He found the clear glass bowl, tea light holder & decorative gems at a Michael's craft store.

With TAP's help, he is sure the young lady he made this for will like it.
