Light Fixture
Steven Mahan, a very pleased TAP Plastics customer, made acrylic holders for additional light fixtures that he needed in his shop. The holders sit on top of cabinets because he did not want to tear holes in the wall and ceiling. The base of each holder was made using a standard 4" x 4" x 4" clear box filled with a bunch of marbles for counterweight. The box was covered to reduce dust collection in the marbles. A light socket was attached to a standard 4" x 4" x 2" box. He used cut-to-order pieces of acrylic to connect the two pieces. Stainless steel hardware with flat washers, a little larger than normal for increased strength, were used to attach the pieces. He used 100 watt equivalent LED bulbs which put out a lot of light with little heat.
