Most Cut-to-Size orders received before noon are shipped the same day Monday-Saturday.

Cut to size orders are cut with table and CNC panel saws and have a cut tolerance of +/- 1/32". Plastic sheets have a thickness tolerance of +/- 10% and can have thickness variations throughout the sheet. Cut to size items cannot be returned for a refund or exchange.

Sheet sizes, colors, thicknesses and products available on our website are available at TAP Plastics stores.

Visit or contact your local TAP Plastics store where cut-to-size orders often take less than five minutes, start to finish.

Smooth HDPE Boards Made to Order

Turn any DIY dream into a reality by exploring our HDPE board selection today. We offer high-density polyethylene sheets at competitive prices. With smooth high-density polyethylene (HDPE), you can make prep boards, storage bins, outdoor furniture, conduit, duct spacer boards and much more.

An HDPE sheet offers many uses around your home or business. This thermoplastic is known for its excellent tensile strength and resistance to damage from water, chemical solvents or heat. It can even be buried underground! With a custom-cut HDPE board, you are getting a durable yet lightweight material in exactly the amount required for a project.

Note: Polyethylene is an industrial plastic. Its surface will have some imperfections and scratches.

HDPE Boards Custom Fabricated

HDPE cut-to-size sheets can be customized in width and length, but we can also add holes, radius corners, and rounded or routed edges for an additional cost. Cut-to-size requests may take one to two business days to process, or you can visit one of our store locations to get custom HDPE in five minutes or less, from start to finish. Our highly trained experts can promptly provide a quote for any cut-to-size request.

HDPE sheets can be used to produce loose-leaf binders, indexes, sheet dividers, boxes, signs, and point-of-purchase (POP) displays. There are also industrial applications for HDPE board such as material handling and containment. Our natural sheets have a low coefficient of friction and can be easily cut, welded, or thermoformed for easy fabrication. If you have any questions about our selection or customization, please call (888) 827-7330 or email info@tapplastics.com to learn more.

Reasons to Use HDPE

High-density polyethylene (HDPE) is a versatile thermoplastic made from petroleum. This multipurpose material offers excellent chemical resistance to suit a wide variety of applications at a competitive price. Our selection of HDPE sheets includes a wide range of sizes, colors, thicknesses and customization options to choose from. Polyethylene sheets are resistant to impacts, moisture and chemicals, making it ideal for machined parts, industrial cutting boards, wear strips, tank linings, livestock containment, material handling systems and other applications.

Businesses, schools and other organizations choose HDPE because it does not splinter, rot or retain harmful bacteria. Just select the ideal thickness, width, length and quantity in our Cut-to-Size Calculator to get started. Measurements are done in millimeters or inches. You can further cut HDPE plastic sheets into curved and angled shapes — just watch our instructional video below to learn how.

Not sure what you need for your DIY project? We offer polyethylene samples of HDPE. Check the box in the calculator to buy an HDPE sample so you can try it out and compare it to other plastic products.

Fast Custom HDPE Sheets

We know your project can’t wait, so we won’t keep you waiting when you need high-density plastic. Stop by a TAP Plastics store and we can have your HDPE board order ready to take home in less than five minutes. When shopping online, orders are typically ready to ship within two business days.

Our knowledgeable staff is happy to assist if you have any questions about HDPE and the ordering process. You can call our main line or get in touch directly with the nearest location. If you’re new to HDPE plastic, our guide below has everything you need to know about this material and its most common applications.

What is HDPE?

HDPE stands for high-density polyethylene. HDPE is a thermoplastic made from petroleum. At TAP Plastics, we provide HDPE with commercial and industrial applications in mind, and our best plastic cutting sheets are engineered for outstanding flatness and consistency. They’re excellent for DIYers and enthusiasts as well who want a high-quality material for their kitchen surfaces or a variety of other projects.

HDPE cutting board sheets are NSF-listed and FDA-approved, making them perfect for commercial cutting board needs and safe for direct food applications. We offer custom-sized high-density polyethylene cutting boards. HDPE comes in a wide variety of forms. You can bet that most industrial cutting surfaces in the U.S. are fabricated using HDPE cutting sheets made to the specifications of the area and the needs of the business.

HDPE can be cut to any size and rounded at the edges to fit any commercial or industrial cutting board application. When rounded, the edges are extremely smooth and splinter-free. Thanks to its excellent water resistance, HDPE is suited for interior and exterior applications.

What’s the Difference Between Textured vs. Smooth HDPE Sheets?

HDPE is not altered by most chemicals, moisture, or impact which makes it ideal for such a wide range of applications. Smooth HDPE plastic can be used in educational applications such as binders, displays and machined parts or industrial applications such as livestock containment or tank linings for chemical tanks. Textured HDPE plastic is commonly referred to as a “plastic cutting board” and can be fashioned into any custom plastic cutting sheet, with the size and width determined by the consumer and the application.

TAP Plastics can create custom plastic cutting boards of a variety of sizes and shapes, large and small. The texture is important because this way, the HDPE is not slippery and becomes an ideal cutting surface. The boards are textured on both sides so they can be used either way, and the texture prevents the user’s knife from going dull after repeated use. The non-porous surface of our commercial plastic cutting boards is perfect for food applications. While the smooth HDPE is food-safe, it would not be as great for cutting or preparing food the way that our textured HDPE is.

Common Uses for HDPE Boards

There are seemingly countless ways to make HDPE plastic sheets part of your home or business. Let’s look at some of the most frequent uses to help you find inspiration for DIY and industrial projects alike.

  • Display Shelves and Signs: An HDPE display system will have excellent weather resistance and can support heavy loads, allowing you to showcase almost anything in stores and museums.
  • Liners and Covers: Instead of making shelves, tanks and workbenches out of HDPE, you can cover or line an existing unit with an HDPE sheet to give it extra protection from dings and spills. Use them for temporary or permanent applications.
  • Animal Containment: Build HDPE pens and fences to contain livestock or pets. It won’t corrode or splinter and it doesn’t have any containments that will harm animals, soil or ground water.
  • Protective Shielding: HDPE is commonly used for the dasher boards that surround skating rinks, hockey rinks, indoor lacrosse fields and other areas.
  • Wear Strips and Guide Rails: Manufacturing facilities often choose HDPE when they need to guide glass bottles, boxes and other containers along production lines, as HDPE is less likely to cause breakage or corrode over time.
