Safety and Security Window Film

Bulk Security Film for Windows

Many people still use glass windows for a variety of reasons, including added scratch resistance. However, even laminated windows are subject to breakage and other damage. Adding plastic window security film gives them an added layer of protection so you can be more confident in their performance. It is a simple and affordable way to upgrade your glass windows without sacrificing their benefits.

Shatterproof Window Film

TAP Plastic's clear, scratch-resistant, 4-mil window safety film acts like a steel curtain to hold shattered glass in place, helping to protect people and property from damage caused by shattered glass. Our safety window film also offers UV protection by blocking up to 98% of harmful ultraviolet rays, helping prevent fading of carpets and furniture. Safety film minimizes cleanup time when glass or windows are broken by containing the broken glass on the film sheet.

This plastic window covering is clear and allows 89% of visible light to pass through, keeping rooms well-lit as it protects. The reflective index is close to that of glass so the security film won’t significantly affect the look. It also blocks up to 16% of solar heat, helping some with staying cool during the summer.

Bulk or Custom Security Film for Windows

Our safety and security window film is available in a 48-inch width by the lineal foot or in a 100-foot roll. Use scissors, a utility knife or a five-way tool to cut the film to the exact size and shape your windows require. Security film is an excellent addition to homes, businesses, greenhouses, garages, automobiles and much more. We recommend it for those who live and work in areas that are more at risk for accidents and disasters whether natural or manmade.

Earthquake and Natural Disaster Damage Mitigation

Glass safety film holds broken glass in place, preventing shards from flying into a home or business in the event of a storm or earthquake. Earthquake film for windows is an excellent way to reduce the damage done to property by flying glass. Not only does safety glazing film make for a safer and easier cleanup in the case of a broken window, but it also helps protect the occupants from injury due to flying glass in high winds and hurricane storms.

Glass Protection Film for Accidents

Safety film for glass is a must have for a home or business that is frequented by children.  When applied to a sliding glass door, our safety film can minimize injury by holding the broken glass shards together.  An accidentally broken window due to a baseball will be easier to clean up with TAP Plastic’s glass protection film and people nearby will be less likely to be injured.

Window Security Film for Crime Protection

Windows are often the weakest point of the home and a target for burglars.  Our security window film discourages break-ins and makes forced entry difficult.  With glass protection film in place, your home will be more secure and less of a target.  Safety glass film for windows offers an extra level of defense to your home or business.

Glass Protection Film for Graffiti

Window security film can be used to cover windows, mirrors, and doors to protect against vandalism and graffiti.  TAP Plastic’s security film for windows is scratch resistant, and reduces cleanup time in the event of broken glass. In the case of graffiti, you can peel off the existing window film and add a fresh sheet. Protective window film reduces the cost of vandalism to your business.

How do I Apply Window Film?

Achieve professional results and save money by following these steps!

Tools:

Be sure to apply the film when the sun is not shining directly on glass.

Trimming:

Wet the window and lay the film on the wet glass. The water will hold the film while you trim it 1" larger than the glass size. Set the film aside by using water to stick it to an adjacent window or by having a helper hold it.

Clean the Window:

Wet the glass and scrape the window with a paint scraper. Use a sponge and the soap solution to clean the window after scraping and squeegee dry, wiping the blade between each pass. Use a lint free cloth to wipe around the window frame to remove dirt along the edges.

Removing the Release Liner:

Place the window film on the wet window with the release liner facing you. Spray the exposed film with the soap solution as you slowly remove the liner to avoid a static charge.

Application and Trimming:

Spray the center of the clean glass and your window film thoroughly, then apply the film to the window. Use a Flexi-Edge squeegee in a pushing motion from the center to remove water and air bubbles. Stop one inch from the edge.

Use a snap off razor blade and a 5-way smoothing tool to trim the edges. A small barely noticeable gap should remain around the edges. Use a polyethylene TAP squeegee to force remaining water out to the edges from the center, drying with a lint free cloth at the edge.

It can take up to 30 days for the film to bond to the glass and start to bond at 7 days. Refrain from cleaning the window in that time frame. Cloudiness is normal and will clear as the film and window dry.
