Gel Coating for Molds and Watercraft

TAP Gel Coat is a polyester-based resin coating that protects fiberglass surfaces from water, UV rays, debris and more. It is commonly used as a coating on boats so they can be submerged in saltwater and handle long days in the sun — all with a high-gloss finish. Crafters also add TAP Gel Coat Paint to resin molds before pouring. In addition to new coatings, this marine gel coat will repair damage to existing gel coated surfaces.

Our gel coat has excellent UV resistance and can be waxed for further protection. The thixotropic formula is low-sag with minimal runoff for less waste and a smoother finish. It comes in a medium viscosity but can be thinned for easier spreading or to make it a spray gelcoat. The final product resists temperatures up to 155 degrees Fahrenheit. When cured, TAP Gelcoat is sandable and paintable; you also can mix TAP Color Pigment into the coating before application.

For maximum protection in extreme conditions, use this boat gel coat. It’s available in white and neutral clear colors with one-pint or one-gallon cans to fit your needs. TAP MEKP Catalyst must always be used (catalyst sold separately). See the TAP Gel Coat label below for TAP MEKP catalyst mixing instructions.
