Countersink Bits

Countersink Bits for Plastic and Wood

Our countersink bits ensure screws and other fasteners don’t cause bumps and ridges in your fabricated items. The special bit design creates a 90-degree countersunk hole that is shaped like the ISO screw head standard, allowing the fastener to drop down so the top sits flush with the material surface or below it. This is particularly useful on materials like hard plastic and soft metal that don’t compress when you add a fastener.

A plastic and countersink bit improves the aesthetics of your products and makes them safer by eliminating edges that can scratch people or gouge surfaces. They also prevent things like fabric and paper from getting caught between the fastener and the material. Many people use countersink bits on wood as well because it reduces the chances of tear-out and splitting while creating stronger joints.

The Right Bits for Countersinking

These bits are essential if you are making containers, stands, countertops and other items out of hard plastic. Fluted countersink drill bits can also be used for deburring, which is the process of smoothing out rough or sharp edges, and chamfering, which is when you create sloped edges for safety and style.

TAP Plastics has countersink bits for all standard screw sizes. They are made of tool steel that can be used on machinable materials. Order them online for fast U.S. delivery or visit the nearest retail store Monday through Saturday.

Note: Do not use countersinks on plastic used outdoors. Plastic needs to expand and contract with temperature change. Counter Sinks prevent movement which may cause damage to expanding plastic.
