Commemorative Display Box

Commemorative Display Box
When Hassan Kareem was recently promoted to Chief in the US Coast Guard, he visited TAP Plastics San Leandro store for a special, commemorative box. It is tradition in the Coast Guard that upon becoming Chief, one goes through an indoctrination process. One part of the process is construction of a hat box that will be displayed in the Chief's office. The box should display one's pride in oneself, the Coast Guard, and becoming a Chief. Hassan chose to make his box out of clear acrylic, with a hinged lid on the top, and door on the lower right. To reflect his New York heritage, Hassan created a three dimensional puzzle of the city in the top section, and a place for a commemorative book below. Finally, a small holder was created for a music box which plays when the lid is opened (not visible in the photo).

The display box is made of 1/4" clear acrylic. The dimensions are 29" X 13" X 12 3/4". Cost for the project: $250
