Ticket Booth
David Boysei re-created the original glass decoration on the Paramount ticket booth. The original decoration was sandblasted into the glass in October 1930. The frosted lower part of the glass kept curious eyes out of the cash drawer. It had to be removed in the 1980's due to vandalism. He decided to use laser cut frosted vinyl graphics to replicate the original frosted decoration. The original glass pieces were traced, and then scanned into pdf's on a large blueprint scanner. TAP Graphics imported the pdfs, traced and cleaned up the graphics. David and TAP did some final editing and printed full size paper patterns before cutting the material. David installed the vinyl on the interior side of the glass while the exterior is coated with anti-graffiti film or Safety Film. This was a practical and cost-effective way to restore the original elaborate decorations to the ticket booth, in an age when vandalism is a constant issue. The final cost was $1,800 labor plus tax.
