Chimney Pattern
David Johnson, a customer, asked our TAP San Leandro store to make this distinct pattern for his fireplace. He brought in an original cutout that the famed architect Bernard Maybeck did in the 1920's.
This four-sided clover pattern was duplicated throughout the house. Our customer needed to reinforce the original fireplace, so instead of just having a flat slab of concrete, he decided to incorporate the pattern. We took the original and traced it, scanned it and made a digital file for the CNC Router. TAP rotated and flipped the hand done pattern so that the finished piece still looked like it was hand done and not machined. All of the edges were cut with a 5-degree bevel so that the pattern slid off of the concrete easily. The pattern was cut from 1" HDPE cutting board and measures 12" x 72".
The total price came to $400 for the pattern.
